MCT Schoolhouse Trail

The MCT Schoolhouse Trail is one of the more scenic trails in the system. Starting near the intersection of IL Route 203 and Harrison Street in southern Granite City, it runs along Horseshoe Lake, then through farmland and scattered industrial to Collinsville. The trail then continues till it meets the MCT Goshen Trail at IL Route 162 near Troy.

The Schoolhouse trail starts at the southern end at a parking lot off of Route 203 and Harrison Street, then crosses over Route 203 using an old railroad trestle.

The trail then meanders past marshlands within view of the St. Louis City skyline, crossing railroad tracks equipped with its own crossing gates and warning lights.
