MCT Nature Trail

Granite City, IL to Edwardsville, IL

Two cyclists riding near the Pontoon Beach trailhead, which used to be the southern terminus of the trail. It is now 13.5 miles long, traveling through woods and rural farmland, and connecting with the Schoolhouse Trail on the south end, as well as the Nickel Plate, Quercus Grove, Nickel Plate and Goshen trails to the north. 

Major roads are marked with 'Bicycle Crossing' signs.Flashing yellow lights activated by pressure plates warn motorists.

The only real hill on the trail  occurs where it crosses I-270 using a little traveled back road.

The trail crosses I-270 just east of the junction with I-255
