Creve Coeur Lake

Creve Coeur lake has several trails passing through it. The Creve Coeur Trail is the main trail and uses the Page Avenue Extension to cross the Missouri River to St. Charles County and the KATY Trail.

There are actually several trails that circle the lake. One goes completely around the lake, while several others branch off of it.

The trail follows the gravel beach along the lake. At the area called Fisherman's Wharf, there is a comfort station with rest rooms and drinking water.

After traveling through a wooded area at the west end of the lake, the trail follows Creve Coeur Mill Road until it crosses under MO 364, passing athletic fields and some picnic shelters.

After crossing under MO 364, the trail turns east and you encounter a roundabout. Going north from the roundabout is the connection to the trail that crosses the Missouri River using the MO 364 bridge.

The trail then proceeds westwardly to cross over the Earth City Expressway, and then under River Valley Drive.

Just before the trail crosses under River Valley Drive, there is a shelter where you can take a break, and also a parking lot for users of the trail.

Once you cross under River Valley Drive, you see the bridge over the Missouri in the distance. The trail across on the bridge is separate from the roadway.

Once you cross the bridge, the trail descends the bluff on a switchback to meet the Katy Trail at the river's edge.

Proceeding south from the roundabout, you pass a lakeside restaurant as you cycle around Mallard Lake. The trail crosses a small bridge and meets a pedestrian-only trail, then continues along a creek to meet up with Creve Coeur Mill Road.

If you proceed east from the roundabout, there are several trails that take you through a wooded swampy area, then back to lake, passing a spring that is attached to lore that created the name Creve Coeur.
